Performing Safe Oral Sex

Although many people still don't care about oral sex this important subject it's a practice that may represent a high risk of sexual diseases transmission, AIDS inclusive. Not as dangerous as vaginal or anal intercourse, since the contact between mucous membranes it's not the same, we have to avoid the contact with body fluids (vaginal lubrication, sperm, pre-cum) during oral sex, because the contact with bleeding gums, little cuts or sores inside your mouth may allow viruses to infect our system.

As there's no way to guarantee if we really don't have any wounds in our mouth before performing oral sex, it's better to avoid contact with fluids at first place. When performing oral sex in a man, just putting on a condom will be enough to protect both partners. However, it's important to use the condom since the beginning of the play, and not only before ejaculation, as the pre-cum fluids may also be dangerous. You may find flavored condoms available at sex shops and drugstores, to make oral sex more fun.

To perform safe oral sex in a woman however, may be tricky. You will need to make a barrier between your mouth and your partner's genitals. The next best option is to use an unlubricated condom to make a square piece of latex. Cut the tip of the condom (the space where the semen is kept in regular use) and then you will have a ring. Now cut the ring open e unwrap the condom. Use the square piece of latex when performing oral sex in your partner.

As unlubricated condoms may be difficult to find in some places, using a piece of plastic film (as the ones used to wrap food) will work as well. However, plastic film is more fragile than latex, so be careful during the play. Having oral sex using some barrier may be not as fun as it could be (let's face it), but the relief in knowing that you have no way to acquire any sexual transmitted infection is worth the effort.
